Haughley Park is close enough to our kitchen that we could walk it at a push, and it is one of the venues where we are already on the approved list.

A note on dates. Haughley Park is not taking wedding bookings for 2027, so check availability with the venue before you plan around it. Nothing below changes — we will be there whenever they are open, and for parties and other events in the meantime.

The approved list

Haughley Park Barn requires couples to choose from its own list of approved caterers. We are on it.

That is worth knowing early, because it narrows your choice before you start — and it means the venue has already satisfied itself about how the people on that list work.

The building

A barn set in a country estate in central Suffolk, minutes from the A14. The venue takes up to 100 for a civil ceremony, 120 for the wedding breakfast and 240 in the evening.

Hire is exclusive and generous with time — a three-day window, Friday morning to Sunday morning for a Saturday wedding. From a catering point of view that is a gift: it means set-up is unhurried and nothing has to be rushed on the morning itself.

What catering there involves

The jump from 120 at the wedding breakfast to 240 in the evening is the number that shapes the day. It is effectively two services, and the second one is for a room twice the size.

Plan the evening food properly rather than as an afterthought, and work out with us how many of those 240 will actually eat — guessing high is the commonest way to waste money at a wedding.

Menus that suit it

A seated three-course wedding breakfast for 120 is comfortable here. A sharing table suits the building, and in autumn a Suffolk ploughman’s with glazed ham, a hand-raised pork pie and Shipcord does more for a barn than anything that needs a sauce.
